A busy lifestyle can make it impossible to get to the gym for a daily workout, prepare your meals ahead of time, or even to remember to pack your lunch for work each day. Being in a rush can make it difficult to stick to your diet when it&#8217;s so easy to grab something at the drivethrough. Here&#8217;s a collection of hints and tips from other busy women that will help you stay on your diet despite all the temptations.<br/><br/>Don&#8217;t try to &#8216;save time&#8217; by eating on the run, or snacking at your desk while you work. No matter how rushed you are, take the time to eat like a civilized human being, to quote my mother. Set the table, put your food on a plate and have a meal. You&#8217;ll eat less and feel fuller &#8211; and not feel the urge to snack because you &#8216;haven&#8217;t eaten anything all day&#8217;. <br/><br/>Cook just what will be eaten. Ignore all those homemaker articles that suggest that you &#8216;cook for tomorrow&#8217; to save time. Cook one portion per person at each meal. That way you&#8217;ll avoid the temptation to finish off the leftover &#8211; and teach your family healthy eating habits. <br/><br/>Get up early enough to eat breakfast at home. The morning rush to get ready may make it tempting to grab something on the way to work, or skip breakfast entirely. Don&#8217;t do it. You&#8217;ll end up eating up all that saved time &#8211; and a lot more calories &#8211; with midmorning trips to the snack machine, or fight off the blahs all morning long. Stock up on easy breakfast foods. A piece of fruit, a container of yogurt and a slice of toast are a healthy, balanced start for your day.<br/><br/>Most diets suggest that you drink at least eight 8 ounce glasses of water a day. If the thought of drinking a half gallon of water makes you queasy, there are ways to make it more appealing. Stock up on flavored bottled water in the fridge at work and keep one icy cold on your desk. At home, float mint sprigs or lemon slices in a crystal pitcher. There&#8217;s no added calories, but oh what a difference in presentation and flavor!<br/><br/>Trying to lose baby weight can be frustrating. You want to take it off as quickly as possible &#8211; but your body may not be cooperative. Keep in mind that your body is designed to nourish a child for up to a year after you give birth. Putting it on a starvation diet will kick it into survival gear, making it even harder to lose the extra weight. Instead of fighting your body&#8217;s natural tendency to store up nutrition for the baby, eat healthy portions and increase your activity level. And if you&#8217;re breastfeeding, remember that your body needs up to 1000 more calories a day than usual. Don&#8217;t skimp &#8211; you&#8217;ll just convince your body that it&#8217;s starving. <br/><br/>Employ the buddy system for moral support. Making a pact with a friend to exercise together makes it easier to stick to your resolution. Instead of meeting with friends for lunch, challenge friends to a tennis game, or take a brisk walk in the park together.<br/><br/>Remember that a healthy, active lifestyle and a nutritious diet are the true keys to losing weight permanently. At breakfast, eat a whole orange rather than drinking a glass of pure orange You&#8217;ll save about 45 calories.<br/><br/>2. Have an omelette, filling yet good on calories, make it with egg whites plus 1/4 cup egg substitute. Replace regular bacon with low fat/ Canadian bacon to save even more calories.<br/><br/>3. Switch from whole milk to nonfat or lowfat milk. Use sugar substitute instead of sugar in your morning coffee or latte.<br/><br/>4. At lunch, use mustard instead of mayonnaise on your sandwich to save 100 calories (per tablespoon) . Eliminate the cheese and save 100 more calories.<br/><br/>5. Instead of a Big Mac and large fries, go for a plain hamburger and a small french fry and save a whopping 590 calories!<br/><br/>6. Don&#8217;t eat potato chips at snack time. Have an apple instead for less calories plus the added benefit of more fiber.<br/><br/>7. Substitute diet cola or iced tea for your usual soda. You&#8217;ll save 150-200 calories per drink.<br/><br/>8. Eat every two to three hours with smaller portions. Don&#8217;t skip breakfast! No one likes their clothes to be too tight or to look in the mirror and not feel attractive, but losing those excess pounds can be difficult, intimidating, and confusing. With so many diets and weight loss plans out there it’s really hard to tell the difference between the fads, the frauds, and the programs that actually work. And, to complicate things, the same plan doesn’t work for everyone—so how do you choose one?<br/><br/>One thing that most programs agree on is that there is no quick fix when it comes to losing weight and keeping it off—it takes work. Dieting is work, but choosing the right diet for your body and your lifestyle can make the experience less of a chore. Some people have a hard time counting calories and preparing healthy meals due to busy schedules or lack of cooking skills, and for those people diet plans with prepared meals, delivery services, or planned menus can make losing weight a snap. Other people don’t like pre-prepared food or need larger portions. For them, preparing their own meals based on their tastes means that there is a much better chance they will actually stick to their diets. Plus, then they can eat larger portions of vegetables and fruits to help keep them full without consuming too many calories. Others like to be able prepare some of their own meals and purchase prepared foods for some of their meals. They need plans with lots of flexibility that can incorporate spontaneity.<br/><br/>Exercise programs are just as varied as diets. Some people can run for miles or do aerobics for hours, while others prefer lower impact workouts like swimming, yoga, or Pilates. Some people are self-starters who motivate themselves while others burn more fat in class settings with a trainer there to motivate them. Some people hate exercising altogether and need fun classes or sports like tennis that feel less like a workout. The best way to figure out which exercises you are going to enjoy the most is to head over you your local gym and try a few things out. Go to a few classes, try out the equipment, hop into the pool, or pick up a racquet. You will be more likely to stick to your workouts if you don’t hate them!<br/><br/>When it comes to losing weight, it is always easiest if you take your lifestyle, preferences, and taste buds into account when choosing a plan to follow. What works for your best friend or sister may not work for you. Let us read the story in his own words.<br/><br/>Hello! I am an ordinary citizen and actually no story is generally written by any one about an ordinary person like me. However still I am writing my experience with the hope that this may encourage others to fight the curse of obesity.<br/><br/>Even a few years back, I was an obese person. Actually my obesity started from my child hood. It is true that 40 percent of teen age boys and girls in America are overweight and obese. I was also among one of them during my childhood.<br/><br/>My body weight continued to increase abnormally compared to my age and height as I grew older. At my age below 25, my body weight increased to an alarming level. This overweight made me slow, not so smart and lazy. I felt always difficulty in breathing. My blood pressure increased unnecessarily. Also there were some symptoms of type-2 diabetes in my system. Really I was scared and could not find any way to get rid of my problem of overweight.<br/><br/>Also my sexual power was reducing day by day and I felt ashamed to my beautiful wife for not being able to satisfy her sexual desire.<br/><br/>I was thinking to adopt some weight loss programs with regular exercise by visiting Gym and take a session under the instruction of an experienced person.<br/><br/>However, I saw the program was too rigorous to adopt. So I did not join and this made me very much upset and I thought that there was no respite from my excess weight which would ultimately kill me in my immature age.<br/><br/>I heard the name of Phentermine diet pills. But I was not sure about their effectiveness as there were floods of advertisements in TV and Internet about cheap Phentermine diet pills and I thought all bogus.<br/><br/>But when I felt that my body weight would kill me one day and seeing no other way, I took the advice of a doctor who prescribed me to buy Phentermine diet pills.<br/><br/>He assured me that everything was not bogus. After a few weeks I felt the real miracle. My body weight started to reduce.<br/><br/>My joy knew no bounds. I was so excited and thrilled to see my body weight reduction! This encouraged me to adopt a bit more rigorous exercise with the advice of my doctor and my body weight gradually came to the accepted level without disturbing other functions of my body.<br/><br/>At present my body is perfectly fit. <div><em><strong>Cliff Baker</strong> asked: </em><br/><br/><br/>With so many conflicting studies and vague interpretation of information, it&#8217;s not surprising that there is a lot of confusion when it comes to the value, safety and efficacy of low-carb diets. It seems like heated debates are everywhere!<br/><br/>Whether it&#8217;s the South Beach or Atkins, or some other low-carb plan, as many as 30 million Americans are following a low-carb diet.<br/><br/>Advocates contend that the high amount of carbohydrates in our diet has led to increasing problems with obesity, diabetes, and other health problems. Critics, on the other hand, attribute obesity and related health problems to over-consumption of calories from any source, and lack of physical activity. Critics also express concern that the lack of grains, fruits, and vegetables in low-carbohydrate diets may lead to deficiencies of some key nutrients, including fiber, vitamin C, folic acid, and several minerals.<br/><br/>Any diet, weather low or high in carbohydrate, can produce significant weight loss during the initial stages of the diet. But remember, the key to successful dieting is in being able to lose the weight permanently. Put another way, what does the scale show a year after going off the diet?<br/><br/>Let&#8217;s see if we can debunk some of the mystery about low-carb diets. Below, is a listing of some relevant points taken from recent studies and scientific literature. Please note there may be insufficient information available to answer all questions.<br/><br/>Differences Between Low-Carb Diets<br/><br/>There are many popular diets designed to lower carbohydrate consumption. Reducing total carbohydrate in the diet means that protein and fat will represent a proportionately greater amount of the total caloric intake.<br/><br/>Atkins and Protein Power diets restrict carbohydrate to a point where the body becomes ketogenic. Other low-carb diets like the Zone and Life Without Bread are less restrictive. Some, like Sugar Busters claim to eliminate only sugars and foods that elevate blood sugar levels excessively.<br/><br/>What We Know about Low-Carb Diets<br/><br/>Almost all of the studies to date have been small with a wide variety of research objectives. Carbohydrate, caloric intake, diet duration and participant characteristics varied greatly.<br/><br/>Most of the studies to date have two things in common: None of the studies had participants with a mean age over 53 and none of the controlled studies lasted longer than 90 days.<br/><br/>Information on older adults and long-term results are scarce. Many diet studies fail to monitor the amount of exercise, and therefore caloric expenditure, while participants are dieting. This helps to explain discrepancies between studies.<br/><br/>The weight loss on low-carb diets is a function of caloric restriction and diet duration, and not with reduced carbohydrate intake. This finding suggests that if you want to lose weight, you should eat fewer calories and do so over a long time period.<br/><br/>Little evidence exists on the long-range safety of low-carb diets. Despite the medical community concerns, no short-term adverse effects have been found on cholesterol, glucose, insulin and blood-pressure levels among participants on the diets. But, adverse effects may not show up because of the short period of the studies. Researchers note that losing weight typically leads to an improvement in these levels anyway, and this may offset an increase caused by a high fat diet. The long range weight change for low-carb and other types of diets is similar.<br/><br/>Most low-carb diets cause ketosis. Some of the potential consequences are nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and confusion. During the initial phase of low-carb dieting some fatigue and constipation may be encountered. Generally, these symptoms dissipate quickly. Ketosis may also give the breath a fruity odor, somewhat like nail-polish remover (acetone).<br/><br/>Low-carb diets do not enable the consumption of more calories than other kinds of diets, as has been often reported. A calorie is a calorie and it doesn&#8217;t matter weather they come from carbohydrates or fat. Study discrepancies are likely the result of uncontrolled circumstances; i.e. diet participants that cheat on calorie consumption, calories burned during exercise, or any number of other factors. The drop-out rate for strict (i.e. less than 40 grams of CHO/day) low-carb diets is relatively high.<br/><br/>What Should You Do?<br/><br/>There are 3 important points I would like to re-emphasize:<br/><br/>1)The long-range success rate for low-carb and other types of diets is similar.<br/><br/>2) Despite their popularity, little information exists on the long-term efficacy and safety of low-carbohydrate diets.<br/><br/>3) Strict low-carb diets are usually not sustainable as a normal way of eating. Boredom usually overcomes willpower.<br/><br/>It is obvious after reviewing the topic, that more, well-designed and controlled studies are needed. There just isn&#8217;t a lot of good information available, especially concerning long-range effects. Strict low-carb diets produce ketosis which is an abnormal and potentially stressful metabolic state. Under some circumstances this might cause health related complications.<br/><br/>The diet you choose should be a blueprint for a lifetime of better eating, not just a quick weight loss plan to reach your weight goal. If you can&#8217;t see yourself eating the prescribed foods longer than a few days or a week, then chances are it&#8217;s not the right diet. To this end, following a moderately low fat diet with a healthy balance of fat, protein, carbohydrate and other nutrients is beneficial.<br/><br/>If you do decide to follow a low-carb plan, remember that certain dietary fats are associated with reduction of disease. Saturated and trans fats are bad fats.<br/><br/>This diet has generally been perceived as a successful weight loss diet.<br/><br/>DASH Diet<br/><br/>This diet is primarily proposed for patients suffering from high blood pressure. It consists in following a diet which is low in saturated fat, total fat, and cholesterol, and is rich in low-fat dairy products, fruits and vegetables. The plan is rich in magnesium, potassium, and calcium, as well as protein and fiber. Since it uses the same concepts in choice of diet as are used in case of weight loss diets, it is successful for weight loss also.
