Better Food Pyramid Mediterranean Diet, Nutrition by Natalie

The Mediterranean Diet Food Pyramid

http://www.oldwayspt.org/med_pyramid.html

Dietary data from those parts of the Mediterranean region that in the recent past enjoyed the lowest recorded rates of chronic diseases and the highest adult life expectancy show a pattern like the one illustrated in the list below. The healthfulness of this pattern is corroborated by epidemiological and experimental nutrition research. The average amounts given are in most cases intentionally nonspecific, since variation is known to have been considerable within this pattern.

Live what you have to live, die when you MUST die. What’s the importance of living a very long life?

Actually, the average life span for a vegetarian is five years longer than the average omnivore person- and for a vegan it is ten years longer. As long as you are still getting the proper nutrients that your body needs, it is actually quite healthy to be a vegetarian :)

I can attest hat when I went on a 100% Mediterranean diet several years ago, which lasted for about 1.5-2 years, that I lost a of of weight and had more energy. Also, the oils on the foods help bowel movements when you drink enough clean water, and I very much enjoyed the enhancement of the food with the right good oils.

Awesome stuff. Production note. You’re too close to your green screen, it’s spilling all over you. Move away from the screen, but make sure it’s lit well.

Lots of healthy ways to eat and they include eating no olive oil or fish. Being omnivores and having evolved and survived famines, starvation, limited food choices, our genetics allows us to eat a huge variety of different foods. Protein in red meat? True, but green beans are higher in protein than a Big Mac. Protein, carbs and fats should be determined on the basis of calories. One can of green beans = 70 cal and 8 grams protein. That is 8X4=32 protein cal per can divided by 70 = 46% protein.

Very good overview. You would think a lot of it would be common sense but that just goes to show you how much we’ve strayed from a balanced diet. Great job!

I haven’t eaten red meat in two months. I plan to ditch red meat forever because I love sheep and cows.
